Overlapping Periods

Hi,

On several occasions I have run into situations where it would be useful to have overlapping periods. Specifically, 12 months ended in a month would allow some smoothing of the data where one month on it’s own could see huge variances.

For example, for the last 12 months the periods would look as follows:
Start | End
December 1, 2020 | December 31, 2021
January 1, 2020 | January 31, 2021
February 1, 2020 | February 28, 2021
March 1, 2020 | March 31, 2021
April 1, 2020 | April 30, 2021
May 1, 2020 | May 31, 2021
June 1, 2020 | June 30, 2021
July 1, 2020 | July 31, 2021
August 1, 2020 | August 31, 2021
September 1, 2020 | September 30, 2021
October 1, 2020 | October 31, 2021
November 1, 2020 | November 30, 2021

I created a file that defined such periods, but got an error message when I tried to add the period, due to the periods “overlapping.”

Is there a way around this (without having to kneecap the functionality of the dashboard by using Custom Mode?

Cheers!

@kai Would ‘Moving’ Mode help here? By default this will give you current month plus the previous 11 (rather than the +12 you’re after) but this can be adjusted by an administrator in settings.
